About Us

School Name

Goodwin Elementary is a neighborhood school that has been serving North Charleston children since 1967.  We have an ethnically diverse population of 476 students in grades Child Development through the 5th grade.  Instructional programs include special education services, Gifted and Talented, ESOL, art, computer, music, guidance, P.E. and regular intervention groups with associate teachers for students needing assistance in all grade levels. Students have many opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities including:  Art Club, WBGS News Show, Tennis team, Recycling Team, and Fit Club.

We are excited to announce that Goodwin Elementary was selected as a pilot school for Personalized Learning and we have twelve classrooms participating in this program.  Personalized Learning is an approach that combines best teaching practices, collaborative and cooperative learning and project-based learning while integrating all the technology resources (computers, iPads and Web Tools) available.  This model provides an individualized learning environment to help ensure the success of every student.

All students at Goodwin have the opportunity to use iPads in their classrooms.

Our campus participates in CATCH:  Coordinated Approach to Child Health.  Students learn healthy eating habits and receive fresh vegetable and fruits snacks twice a week.

Goodwin offers ESOL and GED classes for parents and we are proud to be partnering with Communities in Schools this year.
